AI tools used during the hiring process in NYC - New Law effective July 5 2023
AI - the new HR assistant?
When I searched and applied for a job position in NYC this July (2023), I saw that description above.
Everyone know those days know that automated algorithms (maybe AI) tools are:
- pre-selecting us
- tagging our skills
- score our competences
- filter or segment us as candidacy
- compare between the applicants
It is the first time i see that i can check ✅ that I opt-out my resume reviewed by AI as a part of the application process for job.
In this particular case I did not check the box.
Made search for this NEW AI option when apply for a role and the answer is here:
Exempt from the article:
"But if potential hires don't like being judged by AI, their ability to opt out is limited. The law specifies that, while an AI screening disclosure "must include instructions for how an individual can request an alternative selection process or a reasonable accommodation under other laws, if available," the hiring company isn't required to actually use a different screening process."
